On some systems, training users and getting them certified for the system is of critical importance. In most cases, this training includes operating the system in a realistic environment. In some cases, this is only possible with a simulation. Possible reasons for this are:
- the users need to be trained before the system has been completed,
- the training includes scenarios not normally available in production,
- the possibility of unacceptable consequences from an operating error by a trainee is too high.
The use of simulations allow operators to safely learn how to use the system. In addition, a sophisticated environment simulator will allow users to handle a wide range or scenarios the system may encounter - including emergency situations.
